BEST COMIC SHOP IN THE UK

I find it interesting that one of the reviewers above has accused the management of ripping him off when in my experience exactly the opposite is true. The guys at CE have managed to obtain rare out of print titles which are being sold for exorbitantly inflated prices on Amazon and sold them to me at cover price. They have also always checked straight away the availability of any items I've been looking for, something that many comic shops simply fail to do.. I recently enjoyed another free signing put on by CE where I was able to meet and get sketches and signatures from a number of comic book professionals. This event just like all those before was put on by Jeff and his brother at their own expense. Hardly rip off merchants....

Comic Timing was great.

Swift delivery and customer service for these enthusiasts that love comics as much as we do. Good quality, condition and price. Well worth the drive to get our comics from people who know their stuff - and will go that extra mile to deliver great items. In store signings and social events for the enthusiast and novice alike. Use other shops at your peril!

Want comics? Get comics!

Comic shops sometimes have the reputation of being intimidating and unfriendly places to visit if you aren't a regular who can name every artist who drew the Fantastic Four from 1962 to 1995. Close Encounters couldn't be more different. The staff always happy to help and make sensible recommendations if you aren't sure what you might like. If you do know what you want you are definately in the right place - current, golden or silver age comics, original art, graphic novels - if it's out there then they can almost always get it for you, at a good price. Also, the regular signing and sketching sessions by big name writers and artists are magnificent (you should see my Tony Stark sketch by Adi Granov!). It's no wonder that Alan Moore has called the shop his favourite comic-shop ever - and declared the manager Jeff to be one of his heroes. Don't take my word for it - take Alan Moore's.

Comic book store which will make you come back

This is probably the best comic book shop in Midlands, at least I don't know off a better one. It has a lot of comic books in stock, including the back issues. Owner of the store is a really nice person, always get a minute to have a chat and he is always there for help if you need it. You can sit down on comfortable armchair and read before buy. Really good feature is that when you are subscribing, you are informed when orders come in through e-mail. This is the shop that make you come back there every week - believe me.
